The existence in the body of tissues that repair and regenerate throughout the lifespan of an organism argue in favor of the presence of long-lived stem cells in adult tissues that serve as a source of cells for renewal. At present stem cells are more commonly isolated in tissues with high cell turnover, such as the bone marrow, skin, and intestine.
It is clear that adult stem cells under appropriate experimental conditions can at some frequency exhibit a wide range of differentiation potentials. There is great enthusiasm for the
potential use
of stem cells in treating tissue degenerative disorders, but little is known about the intrinsic molecular programs defining stem cell biology.
INBIOBANK is a cell banking facility that can provide stable, reproducible and well-characterized human cell lines, which are essential research tools in studies of the therapeutic potential of stem and primary cells. Our specific aim is to ensure supply of human stem and primary cell lines, which have been isolated and/or expanded under GMP conditions and with all legal and ethical requisites, as well as providing
related services
to researchers. Inbiobank, as a non-profit biobank, provides stem cell cultures and lines as a service to the research community and does not sell stem cells, although a processing fee is charged to support its activities, including cell isolation, culture, stock maintenance and shipping
